Tevium vs IPTV Smarters: a TV-first player with addons
Compare Tevium with official Smarters Pro on playlist viewing, addon catalogues, decoder fallback and pricing.
Tevium combines IPTV and addon viewing around the Android TV remote. Smarters Pro offers a broader family of TV, mobile, desktop and browser clients. Pick according to the screen you use most and the way you organise your sources.
This comparison uses official Smarters Pro by Tech Smarters, including its Android TV listing. Older IPTV Smarters releases and provider-branded apps can differ from that product.
Playlists and everyday viewing
Smarters Pro supports playlist-based live streams, movies and series, multiple playlists, favourites and parental controls. Its official site lists M3U and JSON formats.
Tevium supports M3U, Xtream Codes and Stalker sources, a two-dimensional guide, provider catch-up and recordings. Movies and series have dedicated detail screens, episode browsing, My List and continue watching.
Profiles separate household favourites and viewing state. Tevium's remote flow is built around switching between the guide, preview and fullscreen playback.
The addon difference
Tevium includes a Stremio addon catalogue workflow. Install a compatible manifest, browse films and series, then play supported results beside your provider content.
Smarters Pro does not include that built-in Stremio catalogue workflow. If you use one player for your IPTV login and another for addons, Tevium gives both parts one home.
Playback engines
Smarters Pro's Android TV release lists built-in VLC and automatic player switching after consecutive playback failures. That is a useful strength.
Tevium uses Media3 with decoder preferences, frame-rate matching, HLS alternatives and up to five reconnect attempts for recoverable live-channel failures. Its connection and error messages stay inside the player. Tevium does not currently bundle VLC.
Price and platform choice
| Plan | Tevium | Official Smarters Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Download / core | Free | Free download with in-app purchases |
| Monthly | US$1.99 | Platform-specific upgrade |
| Yearly | US$15.99 | Platform-specific upgrade |
| Lifetime | US$39.99 | Platform-specific upgrade |
The public Smarters Android TV listing does not publish the regional upgrade amount. Its purchase screen provides the specific price; it should not be confused with a channel subscription. Tevium paid plans cover five devices.
Choose Tevium for an Android TV interface that brings direct IPTV management, addons and household profiles together. Choose Smarters Pro if its wider platform family or built-in VLC backup matters more.
